FR Présentée au LaM, cette exposition-événement explore trois aspects majeurs de la carrière du célèbre artiste italien : son intérêt pour l'art antique et extra-occidental, son travail de portraitiste de l'avant-garde et sa relation avec le collectionneur Roger Dutilleul, fondateur de la collection du musée Elle réunit près de cent-vingt oeuvres, parmi lesquelles une centaine de Modigliani — dont de nombreux prêts inédits en France —, mises en dialogue avec une sélection d'oeuvres de certains de ses contemporains et amis : Brancusi, Kisling, Lipchitz, Picasso ou encore Soutine. Un rendez-vous incontournable en 2016.
EN Shown at LaM, this exceptional exhibition explores three major aspects of the famous Italian artist's career his interest in art from Antiquity and Non-Western traditions, his practice as a portraitist of the Avant-Garde and his relationship with the collector Roger Dutilleul, founder of LaM's collection. It brings together nearly one hundred and twenty artworks including about a hundred by Modigliani — with many loans never shown in France —, resonating with a selection of works by a number of his contemporaries and friends, including Brancusi, Kisling, Lipchitz, Picasso and Soutine. A must-go in 2016.
NL Gepresenteerd in het LaM, die expositie bestudeert drie belangrijke aspecten uit de carrière van de beroemde ltaliaanse kunstenaar zijn interesse voor antieke en niet-westerse kunst, zijn werk ais portrettist van de Avant—Garde en zijn band met de verzamelaar Roger Dutilleul, de grondlegger van de museumcollectie. Ongeveer honderdtwintig kunstwerken zijn bijeengebracht, waaronder handerd van Modigliani — waarvan een groot aantal in bruikleen voor het eerst in Frankrijk — die een dialoog aangaan met een selectie werken van zijn tijdgenoten en vrienden: Brancusi, Kisling, Picasso en Soutine. Een niet te missen evenement in 2016.
